Investment Management

“Investment management is the process of managing resources within a portfolio to achieve a specific objective.”

Preston & Cleveland employs a strategic asset allocation approach to portfolio management.  We believe that investing in a well diversified portfolio over the long-term with low expenses and high tax efficiency is the best way to achieve your goals.  We believe that returns are determined principally by asset allocation decisions, not the futile exercise of timing the market or attempting to find the next hot stock.

While we are all subject to a constantly evolving, and sometimes complicated, financial landscape, we don’t believe understanding your portfolio should require an advanced degree in Finance. Our best client is an educated client and, as such, we do not employ investment strategies, or make allocation decisions, that cannot be easily and understandably communicated. No two client situations are exactly alike; therefore, the solutions we design are customized to your situation.

We believe in…

  • Diversified asset allocation
  • Focusing on after-tax returns
  • Viewing portfolios on a risk-adjusted basis
  • Keeping total portfolio costs low
  • Measuring long-term performance while attempting to limit short-term volatility
  • Understanding that how much you keep in bad markets is as important as how much you make in good markets

We DO NOT believe in

  • Selecting investments based on last quarter or last year’s best performers
  • Timing the market
  • Feeling that complicated always means better
  • Hiding our fees

Since we do not sell products or accept commissions, you can be assured that our recommendations are objective and unbiased.
